I specialize in helping dancers recover from injuries, aches, and pains, to get back to studio and stage – stronger, more resilient and better dancers.
Finding a physiotherapist who is experienced working with dancers is invaluable if you are suffering from aches and pains, have had an injury, or want help preventing injury. Depending on where you live, this may not be possible in person. However, thanks to modern video calling technology, an online physiotherapy consultation is just as successful as an in-person session.
With an online consultation, I will fully assess your needs, offer advice and support, and create an individualised rehabilitation, injury prevention or technique improvement program.
I do not just treat symptoms. I focus on getting to the root cause of pains or injuries, to get dancers back to the studio and stage pain-free, injury-resistant and dancing at their best!
What you’ll get from an appointment:
- A thorough assessment of any acute or chronic injury or pain
- Diagnosis
- Personalised rehabilitation plan
- Detailed written report and training plan with pictures and exercise descriptions
- Video clips of exercises (if applicable)
- Clinical letters for onwards referral (if required)

Why Dance Physio?
As dancers, we are never satisfied, but instead are constantly pushing physical boundaries in pursuit of higher extensions, more explosive jumps, more creative movement patterns. This constant demand on our bodies can lead to aches and pains, overuse, and ultimately injury. As a specialist dance physiotherapist, I understand the demands of dance training and how it affects the body. As a dance physiotherapist, I seek to apply the science of human anatomy and kinesiology to real world dancers and dance training. With this understanding of how the body works, I can provide individualised and sport-specific guidance to help you recover from an injury and come back stronger and fitter, and therefore a better dancer. I can also analyse your movement and technique to provide a tailor-made training program to address your areas of weakness, help you improve your technique, prevent injury, and achieve the best form possible.
I have experience treating dancers from a wide range of styles, including (but not limited to):
- Ballet
- Contemporary
- Ballroom and Latin
- Aerial and circus artists
- Gymnasts
Services provided include:
- Assessment / diagnosis of injuries, aches and pains, problem areas
- Injury rehabilitation
- Injury prevention screening
- Individualised injury prevention programmes
- Pre-pointe assessment
- Liaising with dance schools and teachers
- Science-based technique improvement and flexibility training programmes
FAQs
What to expect from an online dance physiotherapy appointment
An online consultation is very similar to an in-person session. We start with a thorough discussion about your injury (if applicable), training and lifestyle. Next, I will ask you to perform a series of movements so that I can observe your movement patterns and technique. This will allow me to diagnose any injury or causes of pain and assess any problems with technique or areas of weakness. I will then be able to create a personalised rehab or injury prevention plan. I will teach you all of the exercises and make sure you can perform them correctly. I will also send you a detailed written report and training plan with pictures and descriptions of all the exercises.
How do I know if an online consultation will be suitable for me?
Most injuries can be assessed and treated via a video consultation. If you are unsure, send an email describing your situation and I can advise you. Alternatively, book an initial consultation appointment, during which time I can evaluate if an online consultation is suitable. If I determine that your issues would be better addressed with an in-person assessment, I will let you know and you will immediately be given a full refund. Please note – I am unable to provide a diagnosis or treatment advice without a thorough assessment.
Doesn’t physiotherapy involve massage, manual therapy, manipulations, etc.? How can you treat my injury without touching me?
Over the past 5-10 years, physiotherapy has increasingly moved away from manual therapies. This is because there is a huge, mounting body of evidence showing that it does not work in the long run. Massage and manipulations may help you feel better for a few hours or days, but evidence shows carefully planned rest time, graded exercise therapy, education, and movement pattern analysis are the most successful ways to rehab an injury, prevent it from reoccurring, and prevent other problems from developing.
Do I need a referral?
No, you can contact me directly.
Do you treat children / under 18’s?
Yes. I have worked with children and young people throughout my career as a physio. I also have many years experience teaching dance for children ages 2 ½ upwards.
If you are under 18 years of age, you must provide written consent of your parent or guardian, who must also agree to provide proper supervision. Please read the Terms and Conditions before booking.
Can I change or cancel an appointment?
You can change or cancel an appointment without charge with at least 24 hours notice. Please contact me as soon as possible. If you do not provide 24 hours notice, you will be liable for 50% of the cost. Please see the booking and cancellation policy for full details.
I do not live in the UK. Can I still book a consultation?
Yes! My work allows me the privilege of working with dancers all over the world. As long as you have access to online video technology, anyone can book an appointment. I am registered with the UK’s governing bodies, including the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP), thus fully licensed to treat patients in the UK. If you have any questions or concerns, you should check with your country’s regulatory bodies. Please read my full terms and conditions policy before you book. By agreeing to them you are submitting to the jurisdiction of British law.
Can I get a rebate through my health insurance?
Some health insurance companies have started providing rebates for online health care. Please contact your provider. A digital receipt can be provided if required.
