Improve your pirouettes and turns with this exercise. This is a quick tip exercise to help you improve your balance and stability during turns and pirouettes. The most overlooked exercise for better turn and pirouettes is strength during rotational movements, which is exactly what this exercise works on! For a stable turn, and certainly to achieve multiple turns, you need to be able to maintain the strength throughout your body while you rotate. By specifically training this rotational strength and stability, you will find your turns improve much faster than by simply practicing your turns over and over again.
For this exercise, you will need a hand weight of sorts. I’m using a 2 kg free weight, but you may want to start with something lighter. If you don’t have any weights, just grab a bottle of water or anything else you can find! (You definitely don’t need fancy equipment to train!)
The key to this exercise is to try and get as much movement in your torso while still maintaining your balance. It’s harder than it looks!
