Free Introductory Pointe Assessment

The first step in learning point is preparing your body

If you are serious about starting pointe, an initial pre-pointe assessment will provide you with the tools to prepare your body. Or, if you’ve been training for awhile and think you might be ready, an assessment will teach you how to progress safely and effectively for your body.

Pointe work is a fundamental part of our modern ballet culture. It’s often considered the pinnacle of ballet training. For many dedicated ballet students, it’s only natural to aspire to pointe work.

Unfortunately, while access to general adult ballet classes has improved, pointe is still often viewed as the domain of aspiring, young pre-professionals. Adults wishing to learn pointe are often met with a range of barriers.

Have you been told you are too old?  …… Wait, what ballet god decided when someone is too old?

Or told you don’t have “the feet”? …… Nobody has perfect ballet feet! And no, banana feet do not make a great ballerina.

Maybe someone told you there’s no reason to learn pointe because you’ll never be a professional ….. Why does that matter? If someone trains for a marathon, society applauds them. We don’t tell the recreational runner there’s no point because they’ll never be a professional marathon runner.

We learn ballet because we love it!

If you…

  • Have been regularly attending ballet classes for at least a year
  • Are dedicated
  • Willing to put in the work

Then you CAN learn pointe

I love that so many adults are embracing the joys and challenges of ballet life. However, I am seeing increasing numbers of adults starting pointe before they are ready. This will not only put you at risk of injury, but can also leave you frustrated, as you will not have the strength or control to succeed.

As a specialist dance physiotherapist and adult ballet teacher, I understand how to safely and effectively prepare adults for pointe work.

Forget the outdated, old-fashioned and ineffective training methods. My programs use the latest scientific research and dance science knowledge to build the strength, control, and technique you need to succeed.
